Spotlight on Powerhouse Cheer and Fitness

As one of the 12 Powerhouse All-Star Cheer teams takes the stage at a recent competition, their black, white and silver uniforms aren’t the only thing that sparkles and shines. The highly-trained group exudes enthusiasm and athleticism and proves they are at the top with every routine.

“We are known for our technique and synchronized tumble and jump sections,” said Powerhouse Cheer & Fitness owner, D’Ann Legg. “We have been blessed to win the choreography and showmanship award at every competition this season.”

And now the teams are headed to the annual Summit competition that provides an experience for non-Worlds division teams to compete against the best of the best in all levels from across the world. The gym has won multiple awards from this competition in the past and the athletes hope to place high in the Summit rankings this year as well.

Powerhouse has become one of the top gyms in the area and has produced athletes that have become members of collegiate acrobatic teams and collegiate squads at countless universities and in prestigious programs around the country including Team USA. One Powerhouse alumni has even become a cheerleader for the Houston Texans.

“We have incredibly talented [athletes], and we take pride in our All-Star family,” Legg said.

If you’d like to join one of Powerhouse’s all-star teams, the gym will be hosting tryouts for team placements April 27 and 28.

“We have a variety of classes that will prepare you for tryouts,” the gym owner said. “We also have Cheer Prep Bootcamps and Jump Tech clinics to help with junior high, high school and All-Star tryouts.”

Classes are for kids ages 18 months and up, and competition teams begin at age three. You can even try one class session for free before signing up. And if your athlete wants to get in some more practice time, they can attend Powerhouse’s open gym nights—Fridays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

“We would love to have you join our Powerhouse family,” she said. “Come see why we think Powerhouse is the best.”
