Apple Salsa & Sweet Tortilla Chips



Apple Salsa 

Ingredients

2 Granny Smith apples,

    peeled, cored and chopped

1 pear, cored and chopped

1 orange, zested and juiced

2 Tbsp. brown sugar

2 Tbsp. apple jelly

 

Equipment

Mixing bowl

Measuring cups/spoons

Knife

Cutting board

Microplane

Spoon

1. In a mixing bowl, add the apples, pears, orange zest and juice. Toss to combine.

2. In another small mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and apple jelly.

3. Toss this with the fruit. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.


Yield: about 6 servings

Sweet Tortilla chips

Ingredients

4 flour tortillas

1-2 Tbsp. butter, melted

2 Tbsp. sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

 

Equipment

Sheet pan

Microwave safe bowl

Pastry brush

Pizza cutter

1. Preheat oven to 475°F.

2. In a microwave safe bowl, melt the butter and brush it on the tortillas. Sprinkle the tortillas with the cinnamon sugar mixture.

3. Cut the tortillas into 8 wedges. Place the wedges on a sheet pan and bake until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

4. Remove and cool on wire rack until ready to serve.

Yield
: about 4 servings
