Mom Squad Tries: Gingerbread Bash

Decorated gingerbread houses always look so pretty, but I had never tried decorating one or attempted to decorate one with my children. That was until we were able to attend the Gingerbread Bash at the Deck the Halls Holiday Gift Market event at the Waco Convention Center.

When we arrived at the gingerbread event, we were greeted with smiles and a gingerbread house that was already put together along with bags of candy and icing.

Not only was it exciting to see the gingerbread ready for our creative stamp, but the atmosphere was thrilling as well. The event’s Christmas decorations were beautiful, and the tables were even decorated with candy canes and example pictures of already-decorated gingerbread houses. This was a huge plus for us since we had never decorated one before.

The sweet, spicy aroma of gingerbread wafted through the building and really got us into the Christmas spirit.

We found a table and took turns piping icing onto the gingerbread house, adding candy while we talked and laughed at our messy, crazy creation. Baby brother even helped by eating some of the candy because when you have gumdrops how can you not eat them?

Not only did we get the chance to decorate a gingerbread house, but we also got to take pictures against a photo booth backdrop and dine on free drinks and Bluebell ice cream. They even bagged up our gingerbread house for us!

The Junior League of Waco, who hosts the Deck the Halls event, really knows how to throw a Gingerbread Bash. We were glad to attend and decorate our first gingerbread house as a family.

Decorating a gingerbread house was a sweet memorable activity for us, and I am sure other families would enjoy this event as well. So, this year mark your calendars to attend the Gingerbread Bash Nov. 2 from 4:30 – 6:30. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time.
