17 Daily Tasks to Keep You Organized and Productive

For someone who makes a living caring for homes and teaching others how to do it, I find certain tasks mind-numbing. I would rather have a root canal than to spend an afternoon folding laundry – which would result in it not being properly put away.

To combat the chore boredom, I break them down into bite-size pieces, which I do every day.

Doing them every day means I never get behind and I don't spend more than 10 minutes or so working on them.

List of Daily Chores in Bite-Sized Pieces

Here is a list of the things I do every day.  My hope is that they inspire you to break down some of your own tasks into bite-size pieces.

1. Re-set the family room.  I am the first one to bed and the first one up.  I reset the family room to how I like it as soon as I get up.

2. Move my sign telling me the day of the week.

3. Start a load of clothes washing.

4. Fold the clothes I washed yesterday.

5. Put away the clean dishes from the night before.

6. Take out the trash – even if the bag isn’t full.

7. Write social media posts.

8. Send 3 marketing postcards.

9. Perform one home maintenance chore.

10. Make a decision about one thing in my garage: keep and store better or discard.

11. Make a decision about one thing in the spare bedroom: keep and store better or discard.

12. Send invoices.

13. Process mail.

14. Read one chapter in my book.

15. Send one handwritten note.

16. Write one blog/email/article.

17. Wash one load of dishes.

An added bonus: When I do these tasks daily, they become routine. I don’t forget to do any of them because they are all tied to another task. It is a string of mini tasks.

As you can see, I do a little bit of a lot of things every day. It allows me to accomplish so much more over a period of time. try it and see how it works for you.
