Spend Your 'Babymoon' in Galveston

With July through October being the most popular months for having babies in the U.S., Galveston Island – with its cool breezes and picturesque views – is the perfect destination for a relaxing “babymoon” on the Texas coast.

Lounge at a Galveston Beach House

Just an hour’s drive from Houston, Galveston is a world away in spirit, with 32 miles of sparkling coastline on the Gulf of Mexico. To enjoy a comfortable stay with gorgeous views, book a weekend or an entire week at one of the island’s many beach houses. This beach town offers luxurious options on the East End, while Sand N’ Sea Properties boasts a plethora of options on the West End. For an alternative, consider a charming Victorian bed and breakfast, which can be found within many of the island’s historic neighborhoods.

Take A Morning Stroll Along the Beach

Let your hair down, kick your shoes off and share a little quiet time together while watching the sunrise at the beach.  Galveston boasts some of the most spectacular sunrises in Texas. And, with 32 miles of beaches, finding the perfect stretch of sand to sink your toes in is easy to do.

Head Out or Stay in for a Fabulous Brunch

While on the island, enjoy a fabulous brunch. From weekend brunch at Farley Girls Café to the famous Sunday Brunch at Hotel Galvez, there are plenty of options to feed a growing appetite.  For a more intimate treat, make your brunch in-house by picking up some fresh seafood from Katie’s Seafood Market, local produce from the Galveston farmer’s market, or delicious pastries from PattyCakes Bakery.

Book a Relaxing Prenatal Spa Treatment

Galveston is home to several world-class spas that offer special experiences for expecting moms. Treat yourself to a relaxing prenatal massage at Spa San Luis, The Spa at Moody Gardens Hotel or The Spa at Hotel Galvez where your therapist will use specially designed comfort pillows and massage techniques for a well-deserved release from the tensions of pregnancy.  Or treat yourself to a variety of replenishing facials and rejuvenating body treatments with therapeutic ingredients. And, you can bring your honey along for a romantic couples’ experience.

Go Shopping in Historic Downtown Galveston

Stroll hand-in-hand with your darling while exploring Galveston’s charming historic downtown district. Here, majestic iron-front buildings house unique boutiques, coastal-inspired art galleries and plenty of entertainment.  Take a horse-drawn carriage ride throughout the district then walk along Postoffice Street for art viewing and antique shopping, or catch a live show at The Grand 1894 Opera House. For last minute baby shopping, be sure to check out Gracie’s on The Strand, which has a great children’s department filled with clothes, toys, books and accessories.

Take a Sunset Stroll at the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier

For a playful date, take an evening stroll at the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier. The amusement park pier, which stands over the Gulf of Mexico, is a great place to watch the sunset while having fun playing midway games, grabbing cotton candy and listening to live music.
