Living
out in the country in a small town can make it difficult to find something fun
to do locally. Luckily, we live in the middle of two big cities, and with
summer in full swing there are so many fun places to visit nearby.
Splash Pads
Waco
and Temple have so many parks with splash pads. My favorite park to visit in
Temple is Miller Park. My favorite in Waco is Mountainview Park. Splash pads
are so much fun for kids of all ages and even for parents. Some splash pads are
located within a park so that is double the fun and it's totally free to visit.
Spare Time Texas
SpareTime Texas is a fun place to visit. They offer bowling, arcade games and laser
tag. Daily specials are offered throughout .jpg)
the week and they also offer a
summer pass. If you subscribe to their MECLUB you receive a complimentary $5 Blitz
card.
Mayborn Museum
The
Mayborn Museum is always a fun place to visit. It brings a wide range of engaging
learning experiences inside discovery rooms, outdoor exhibits, natural science
and cultural galleries.
Urban Air Adventure Park Waco
Urban AirAdventure Park Waco is the ultimate indoor playground that offers an adventure
hub, sky rider rollercoaster, ropes course, warrior course, climbing wall, performance trampoline, tubes playground, dodgeball, slam dunk
zone, a kids area for children seven and
under, a café, and much more. It is a great place for kids to have fun all while getting
some exercise. For the summer they are offering an endless play membership
where you can have unlimited visits all year long for the fraction of the price
of a single visit.
Movie Theaters
AMC Theater Waco
Being a
family of 6, our favorite day to go watch a movie is on Tuesdays. They offer $5
movies all day long! Plus, you can pair a Cameo popcorn with your choice of a
21 oz Icee or a Cameo fountain drink for just $5 (plus tax). Our favorite seats
are the recliners although they also offer rocking seats. We always watch the
standard shows, but they have premium offerings like IMAX, Real D 3D, Dolby
cinema and Prime at AMC. You can sign up for their rewards program and collect
points and earn awesome rewards.
Cinemark Temple
Cinemark
offers many discounts, early bird specials, discount days, and senior days. Our
favorite time to go watch movies is before 1 p.m. (early bird special). This
deal is offered seven days a week. If you sign up for their Movie Club you get
20 percent off concessions.
Backyard Fun
You can
also have fun in your own backyard! Our favorite ways to stay cool during the
summer are having a balloon toss, playing water gun tag and creating a homemade
slip-n-slide. Remember to have lots of fun, wear sunscreen, drink plenty of
water and be safe around pools and body of waters.
